Jason Chen is a freelance technology and consumer electronics/gadgets writer based in San Mateo, California. He graduated from University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Before starting as an Associate Editor at Gizmodo, a major technology Weblog, Jason worked at various startups as a Software Engineer in the technology industry. His experience at a company that developed online music sharing, downloads, playlist sharing, and various other currently popular ideas gives Jason insight into the consumer tech from the developer's standpoint. In addition, Jason spent two years at another Silicon Valley startup that specialized in Voice over IP, networking, and open source development.

Since from April 2006, Jason's been giving his view on gadget news on the major tech weblog Gizmodo. In addition to news, Jason also performs in-depth reviews and analysis of the newest gear - often times before they are released to the public.

Being based in the Silicon Valley gives Jason unique access to all the technology companies in the area, as well as convenient access to San Francisco's press and media events. He has done interviews for various publications, such as the NY Post, the online video podcast "Cranky Geeks", and Detroit AM radio.

Jason is also the co-author of the forthcoming How to Do Everything with Your iPhone (McGraw-Hill).
